Summer, time to get to work.

Ok so the internship I was offered fell through because the people at that company have terrible communication skills. However, it has turned out to be a good thing because now that my name is out there, i've found 2 free-lance jobs, and the opportunity to shadow a designer at Mead paper. The 2 free-lance things include: a neighborhood newsletter and graduation announcements. not much but something :) I'm also working on a few paintings and drawings. I don't have my scanner up, otherwise i would post pics. I'm also thinking about doing some more collages and photos soon and i am working on filling my first sketchbook of the summer.

Blast from the past

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I found my old Photobucket account. There are a lot of images in there. These are from about 5 years ago. It's fun to see how I've progressed. A lot of these are from when I had my layout site on Xanga. I would create banners and background images to go with the website layouts I made. This feels like so long ago...

It's just a stain

These are some of the things I submitted with my group's application to live on Art Street next year. We got in! These were made of recycled scrapbook paper that I then painted, dyed, drew on, ironed and basically anything else I could think of to make texture.

Marion Peck

This is the artist that shares a studio with mark Ryden. Her works are pretty interesting as well and are of similar style to that of Mark Ryden. A lot of her work i have seen before but have never been able to put a name to it, so i'm really glad i discovered her today.

Mark Ryden

Just discovered this surreal artist. His paintings are beautiful, but creepy and somewhat comical at the same time. Wonderful combo. i Wikipedia-ed him. "Ryden studied Illustration and graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, in 1987. His solo debut show entitled "The Meat Show" was in Pasadena, California in 1998. He currently lives and works in Eagle Rock, California, in a studio that he shares with his partner, artist Marion Peck. He is divorced and has two children Rosie and Jasper."
